Two tone cabs -Show pics of the door colour transfer please

Well, you guys know I am going two tone with the repaint.

Martin popped in after work tonight to inspect my 67-72 bumper and brackets.

Typically it was not long before he started screwing with my head, and my truck...... Grinding away a test sample of the trucks front window frame..... Thanks mate.

Anyway, from that we started discussion the painting I will need to do to prepare for the new windscreen that should be fitted next week if it gets here.

One of the issues is......

WHERE DO YOU CUT THE PAINT COLOURS GOING FROM THE INSIDE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOORS, AND WHAT EXACTLY DOES A WHITE INTERIOR LOOK LIKE IF YOU HAVE A COLOURED BODY AND WHITE ROOF??

So, if you have pics of where you changed the colours, and made transitions of colour, please post it up.

Thanks as always for all your input.

Thanks for posting.

I will look in there to see where people change the colour going from outside to inside.

Re: Two tone cabs -Show pics of the door colour transfer please

I am working on the same issues. When I painted the truck (Red/White) in 1985 I painted the interior all red. I was never real happy with the results. This time I plan on two tone inside. You can see parts in post #14 and #95 in my build thread. I painted all of roof and the back inner wall white. The front posts and the doors are still a work in progress but I am pretty close with the results in post #95. If it will help I will take better pictures when I am in the shop tomorrow.

Have you thought about going with the original Fawn interior? you can't go wrong, looks good with any color combination.

Whose truck (cab?), bhc41051? Looks pretty sharp, if I do say so.

That truck is a 66 C20 on 4-5-6 Chevy trucks... You can find it on the projects section...

I am getting ready to paint myself. Not that originality is my big thing and perhaps I didn't look enough but from the factory would the door hinges be body color or the fawn color?

Body.

Colors meet at the door pinch where the weather stripping goes.

Re: Two tone cabs -Show pics of the door colour transfer please

Next question !!

Does anyone have a photo of the total part they used to replace the door stops??

I am speaking of either the front or rear Jeep Cherokee parts people are using.

I need to try explain to a breakers yard what I want, and a photo would be really useful in explaining.

Thanks for posting up

Re: Two tone cabs -Show pics of the door colour transfer please

Man...there are some beautiful trucks here! Great job BHC and 1bad62.

Glad to see these here...always looking for ideas!

Here is what I ended up doing...The concept is pretty simple. Just carry the color through the door jamb.

The execution can be a bit more difficult though as the door jambs are a REAL pain to work with especially if they are a bit rough...and you can spend days on door jambs.

My advice, keep it simple!

Tom

Lets say you have a fawn interior and a white top. On the doors, where does the white stop on the doors and the fawn start?

Rocknrod-Fawn should start on the inside of the door skin pinch weld. Look at the pictures above of the blue and white cab.

Not the cab - the doors. The two blue and white pics above show the cab.

Re: Two tone cabs -Show pics of the door colour transfer please

Rocknrod - You are right. The inside door panel is all fawn till the pinch weld of the door skin that rolls over at the inside outer edge then changes to body color.

Rocknrod- The last page of the factory correct restoration shows the inside door painted all the way to the edge Fawn. I was incorrect in my information.

Re: Two tone cabs -Show pics of the door colour transfer please

The factory color break on the door itself is right at the edge of the door. No roll over of exterior color shows on the inside of the door, except for some overspray which is fairly common, especially on the hinge side.
