lurker turned member with new 72, K5

Hi, just picked up this K5 from Washington state. I have not had time to clean her up. Here are some pics..... I am going to change the cowl hood, the tires are 35's with a 2.5 in lift.

Nice ride! Why do you want to change the cowl hood? I might be interested in it. Welcome to the board, got any more pic's and info? Been thinking of going with the cowl hood, but been busy with the 1 ton upgrade lately. Thinking of the cowl, because my K5 is never going back to stock. Stock look is always good though.

Congrats..I am not a fan of the cowls but is the cowl even straight? 2nd pic looks like it was welded on sideways? Lol

Regardless it looks clean as heck and you will love it.

Re: lurker turned member with new 72, K5

Hi, thanks the hood is about 3 in high at the highest point. I like the look but not at 3in . I have seen some that are half that which I like very much.

For now I am planning on keeping it but will let you know if I do sell it.

The hood is straight I think the angle of the pic makes it look so.

I will put up more pics once I clean her up.

I am still interested in the hood, any idea what it is or company it is from? I kinda like the look as I can't see that good from up this high already. Is it factory type steel, or fiberglass?

Its fiberglass, I will take additional pics tomorrow of the hood and see if I can find out where it was made.

Re: lurker turned member with new 72, K5

hey swyfor5,

I checked the cowl hood and I could not find any manufacturer marks. I did take the hood off and put the original back on.

Which do you like better.....

I love white blazers. STOCK is best. Is the rollbar built backwards?

I agree with all. And I don't mind cowl hoods but not real high ones. Either way, beautiful Blazer!

Re: lurker turned member with new 72, K5

Nice blazer score. I like the cowl look. But it hard enough to see over s lifted Blazers hood already then to have s 3 inch by two ft riser in the way. If I was just road driving it would be cool to have the cowl on. But I occasionally hit the trails in mine so that wouldn't work well. Welcome to the site officially it's a truck. Doesn't look to need a lot of work on yours. Wish I could say the same about mine.

There's a lot of companies selling them. But them and gmcPaul's.com I've heard have a good quality to them. I'd go with a steel one myself and that's going for average 400 bucks right now.
