Front brake drum removal

I need to replace the front drums on my 67 C10.
Spindle and drum are bradded together.
New drums come without spindle.
I assume I need to just drill the brads out and use the same spindle.
Anyone know if that is the case?

That would be correct. Drill them or grind the heads off and punch them out.

Oh, and welcome to the board....

Re: Front brake drum removal

Hey thanks.
Trying to get it road worthy again so my son can take it to the prom like I did 27 years ago.
Harmonic balancer got loose too. Thought I'd drill and tap the crank shaft, put new key stock in place with JB weld and secure with a bolt and washer. Any thoughts on that.? It's a 250 6

If the outside ring on the balancer isn't loose I guess it would work. If the rubber ring between the inside and outside metal parts is bad you will have to replace the whole thing.

Rubber is good. It's a new balancer.
Thanks

If it's new and it is loose it must be the wrong one. It should be a very tight fit. I don't think the JB Weld will do any good.

Re: Front brake drum removal

Yeah, balancer is a press fit. If loose it must be the wrong one.
