1968 K20/LQ9 build AKA (the land yacht)

So I figured I would start a build thread for this thing. I traded another project for this one back in December, to say it was bad from the start is an under statement. While loading it on the trailer it had an electrical fire under the dash, it was bleeding atf so bad it blew a gallon out just while getting it loaded up and then unloaded at my house. When I picked it up it had a sbc 350 with a mild cam, roller rockers and a set of headers. The original plan was to do a vortec 454/ 4l80e but, I just picked up a LQ9 and a 700r4 with an np203 and an np205 for only $250 so thats the way I'm going.

This is it now, chevy orange and all the black is plasti dip. I'm hoping to pull the old motor, tranny and tcase this weekend.

Picked up the LQ9 with injectors, computer, a hacked harness and a NP205 for the doubler all for $250. motor appears to be only missing the water pump, I used to have a Cadillac cts-v and the water pump on that thing was around $600-700 from chevy, hopefully it's not that steep for the LQ9.

Don't think the water pump will be that bad. I bought the entire "engine acc. kit" from GM which included the water pump, p.s. pump, alt., A.C. compressor, brackets, belts etc. and it was only $1600.
Probably get the water pump from O'Reily's or such store nowadays.

Thanks, when he said the price I had to jump on it. I'm planning on running a carb setup just at first, while I'm working out everything else with the fuel system, accessory and computer. $600-700 is sounding like a much better option than 3-4k on the fuel injection system and not being 100% on what I'm going to do. Plus the wife would kill me if I drop 2k on a system then change it 4-6 month later

so I was able to pull the 700r4 and 203 along with the 350 small block today and painted the LQ9. all and all wasnt a bad day in the garage... Any one in norcal want a good running 350 sbc roller rockers mild cam and edelbrock intake and carb. for some reason when I try and upload an image with my ipad it flips the pic...

SO the LQ9 is in and hooked up to the 700R4 I went with the Pacific Fab cross member and I am very happy with the quality.
