Carb Adapter / Spacer Question

I am replacing a Holley 4776 (600cfm) with a Holley 3310 (750cfm). The manifold is an Edelbrock Performer 2.0 and it had what looks like an Edelbrock 2732 adapter for (Square Bore Carburetor, Spread Bore Manifold) between the manifold and 4776 carb. I am planning on using a 1" spacer with the 3310 to help with fuel line clearance. The question: since I will be using a 1" spacer, will I still need the adapter? This is going on the 78 1 ton listed below.

Re: Carb Adapter / Spacer Question

That is either an adapter or a heat shield to help prevent heat into the carb.

If you are talking about the pic of the thin metal plate; that looks a lot like the Edelbrock adapter http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2732

I was wondering if I need to have that adapter AND the new 1" spacer. Originally there was just the adapter and the 4776 carb. With the new carb (3310) and 1" spacer, do I still need the adapter, or will the spacer serve that purpose too?

In the pics above, the black 4 hole is the 1" spacer.

Re: Carb Adapter / Spacer Question

You need both with that type of spacer.
You need a gasket, the thin (original) plate, another gasket, the new spacer and then a gasket on top.

You need a flat surface for the spacer since its hollow underneath.
