Re: want to buy stock big block carburetor

When people say big block, are they referring to more than 350ci? Or it does not relate to that at all?

That sounds like what i am looking for. please let me as soon as you can. I am not sure of the right numbers anyway, so i am hoping whomever i buy it from knows what it came off of. After doing a very little research the Q-Jet seems to be the way I want to go.

When I refer to a engine as a big block I mean it is a engine block that is quite larger than a normal 350 which is considered a small block. You could get so many different engines back then its hard to know what engine you have really, unless your super savy or you know the engine is original and the tags and numbers havent been messed with. I know my engine is a 402 because i took it out of the original car (1971 caprice classic) some twenty years ago and it is definitely a big block. but once you see a big block up close you will know the difference. They take alot of brackets and pulleys and motor mounts.

I will keep you in mind. I am gonna wait for w314speed to see what he has. Than I am gonna show my mechanic buddy 68bowtie s pics and see what he thinks. I really want the one that is most correct to my application (which is 1972 shortbed with a 402/400).

Re: want to buy stock big block carburetor

I don't have the correct ID# carb for you. You want for 72 C10-C20 402/400 id#7042218 or 72 C20-30 402/400 id#7042206 Hope the correct #'s will help get the correct one. Thanks, Dan

Re: want to buy stock big block carburetor

I believe I have a 7042218 carb at the house I took off my 72 BB truck that was running last Sept when I removed it. I can check for you after work.
If your interested in it I would sell it for $100 plus Shipping. It should fit in a Larger Flat Rate Box.

Re: want to buy stock big block carburetor

It looks like the right one but it also looks a little rough. I normally don't haggle over pricing but i am not sure how much time or money it will take to get that carburetor cleaned up and working. Is $100.00 the best you can do? Thanks for posting the pics. Let me know what you think.
