Hickey C10 prep article

Last summer at a swap meet, I bought about 3 bags full of old car/hot rod magazines for about $10. They were less than perfect... but cheap. I pull a couple out of the bag and skim through them from time to time.

Anywho... As I'm flipping the pages of May 1971 Hot Rod I find an article showing how Vic Hickey prepped a 71 C10 for off road use. So, I scanned it so I could share it with you guys. The mag I scanned has some moisture damage... I tried to break up the scans so the print would be easier to read for you guys.

I hope you dig it as much as I did.

That's pretty cool, I love reading old magazine articles and have lots of old car magazines. Its pretty interesting how they prep these trucks, sounds like basically a stock truck other than shocks and brakes. Thanks for posting this!

Interesting that they swapped c20 front suspensions under c10s.
I'm also digging the wider wheeltubs that they used. Seems like a lot of people have mumbled about wanting to find wider wheeltubs.

Hey See Ten, you spelled your name wrong! I love those turf tires. You used what was offered. I've been sayin' Cragar or someone should bring back those chrome slots. I got away from chrome on daily drivers, but they could be kept up on a garage kept occasional user for another old school wheel on these trucks. I love my aluminum slots, but the world needs cheaper wheel alternatives. Ok, now I'm done chattering irrelevant stuff. cool truck build!

very cool and there's a few great shots of those rear shocks. I've been needing to see something like this because i have the rear shock kit but it's missing the axle mounts.
Thanks for posting this See Ten!
