What size tire for a ten inch rim??

Hey all, I'm gonna be starting to look into rear tires for my truck and I want to use my ten inch ralleys. I have a 72 rear and my truck is a fleetside lowered about 3 inches in the rear. My front tires are 235 75 r 15. I'd like to try and stick with the same height tire but not completely opposed to running a taller rear tire. Now for my question. What size tire are you guys running for a ten inch rim in the rear?

Those are 255/60R15 for the fronts and 295/50R15 on the rear. 10" wheel.

That looks like quite a bit of sidewall bulge there. I think most manufacturers recommend a 275 as optimal?

Your best advice is to go to the manufacturer's website, of the tire you want to use. Each one has rim and tire sizing charts for all their tires, including tire heights when mounted on the proper width wheel

Re: What size tire for a ten inch rim??

Looking at the Ventus tire I have on my truck they show a range of rim size from 7.5" to 9.5" for the 275 55 17. The 295 50 15 BFG shows 8"-10.5" rim size.

More important than tire size is offset. How much backspacing on the rim? How tall a tire do you want?

The 275 55 17 tucks nicely on my 69 short step. But it is converted to 5 lug with the wider axle. Rear rim is 17x9 with 5" back spacing. The tire is 29" tall.

Itisthedream I love the way your tire looks, do you have a picture of the rear of the tire to see how much it bulges out. Rod run I poked a bit around and they gave me a couple different sizes. I have to watch how much the tire bulges on the inside of the rim cause I don't have alot of room since I'm running stock inner fenders. I forgot to ask people to post pictures too but thank you all for responding I appreciate every response from you guys

There is about an inch between the inner fender well and sidewall. Fits just right, however.. I did have to cut a small portion of the boards because I was only left with about 1/4" after alignment.

You can check sizing info for most tires at http://www.tirerack.com/index.jsp. Saves going to each mfgr's website.

Just click on the 'tires by size' link (upper left corner) and enter your info.
