Info gathering '59 fleetside

Hi, just bought a '59, which i know nothing about

It has a 350 with a 4 barrel q-jet carb and a manual 3 speed tranny( probably out of a more recent car) it says gm30 on the side?

Well anyway, i want it lowered and driving nice..

Already picked-up a jaguar xj6 front suspension from a local guy..

He is also parting out a ford econoline '94 , is there anything i should be getting from this?

I've been looking at a lot of builds with the jag ifs, but have yet to find one that is finished...? anyone knows how to set up the steering? or how much the car drops with the ifs..?

thx

Re: Info gathering '59 fleetside

Welcome M.O.T,

I'm currently building a '59 with a Jag IFS and IRS.
I have lots of pics you can look at and see how I did it.

There's lots of info about the Jag swap on the internet, I think the front is fairly easy.

If you have any questions, just ask!
The people on this board are very, very helpfull!

Re: Info gathering '59 fleetside

Thanks!

The drop as if now is about 4 inch, only measured with everything set at rideheight.
When all is bolted together I can adjust that a little.
The IFS is welded directly under the framerails.

If you want it slammed on the ground and want the lower control arm level, you must notch the framerails and put the Jag crossmember higher..
I didn't do this because we have a lot of speedbumps....I build mine as daily driver.
Maybe in the future airride, but for now it's good.
