No electrical power to the ignition.
I just installed a new battery. Its hot to the starter,,,,but have no power to the ignition block,,,nor do the lights come on. I just bought the truck and it was working fine found there was a bad cell in the battery,,,so replaced it. It was doing the same thing with the old battery. Ordered a wiring diagram for the truck,,,a '69 chevy c-10. I've checked under the dash,,fuses looked good,,,replace one. Thought maybe there is a fuse that contols the power to the fuse block?,,,,couldn't find one. Help,,,,,LOL,,,,thought maybe the power goes in the starter and out the other side to the fuse block? Thanks,,,Bill,,,

I that "funky" little black box on the firewall,,,sprayed with cleaner,,,put it back,,,,nope still no power. I'll get underneath and checkt the starter and clean the posts on it,,,,wonder if it might be a stuck or bad selnoid?

Re: No electrical power to the ignition.
12v hot at the starter, but nothing at the key? maybe popped or loose ignition fuse? you can always try to jump the starter to see if that's it? do you have 12v going into or coming out of the ign switch?

Re: No electrical power to the ignition.
Nope,,,no power at the fuse box under the dash or the ignition. Wheres the fuse at for the ignition? I check the box under the dast,,,none are marked "ignition". Yea,,,I'll hit the starter post and see if turns the starter over,,,might be a selenoid,,,,,,but no lights at all has me stumped,,,,,thanks

Re: No electrical power to the ignition.
I just took off the line from the battery to the starter and cleaned it. Also there is smaller wire that was loose,,,tightened it the best I could. I'll jack it up and jackstand it, so I can get underneath it later this week. It seems like its a fuse or something like that,,,,with no lights or anything,,,,nothing. Thanks for the help,,,,Bill

Re: No electrical power to the ignition.
Nope,,no power. Question,,,is the power supplied from the starter to the junction block under the hood,,to the fuse box? If so,,,that line is dead. Would the selnoid, if bad or stuck,,,be the problem. The starter was working fine till all this happen. Thanks

Re: No electrical power to the ignition.
You might look at the black wire real good from the little block that mounts to your fender by the battery it sounds like a fuse in that wire could be bad or your wire corroded they are bad about that now if your lights come back on and you still have problems and your motor won't turn over look at your neutral safety switch you can make a jumper wire for testing it. Hope this helps .
