power brakes installation

what all does it take to install power brakes in a 70 c10? I'm under the impression you just need to bolt on the brake booster and hook up a vacuum line. what else do you have to do. I've got disks in the front and drums in the back. dual resevior master cylinder i believe. do i need a new master cylinder as well or just the booster?

Get a booster with matching master cylinder and mounting bracketry. And yes the vacuum hose. You'll have to rebend your brake lines to line up and may need adapters to make them fit. One of mine ended up leaking after I bent it :-(

That's exactly the one I used. Then you need the bracket that mounts between the booster and firewall. There is a pivot of sorts on that. Your booster rod hooks to it and so does your pedal rod. It's kind of a screwy setup.

Here on the parts board. Just look for someone parting out a truck with power brakes.

I saw the whole set up new on E-Bay for like 4200 bucks the other day. That is booster with the bracket and the M/C. I have a couple of hydroboost off some of the late model trucks I've junked out that I am gonna use and one booster set up that I found and two of my trucks have Power brakes already. Jim

id rather not buy used from a guy i don't know just because I've been scamed and ripped off before. id feel better to just buy it new. anybody know were to get the brake that goes between the bosster and the firewall? i checked lmc truck didn't see it.

Randy is a solid guy and WILL NOT rip you off. He is one of the best on this board. I have never seen this part for sale "new". I bought mine off the board as well.

I bought one of the eBay dual diaphragm boosters. Booster, master, and combination valve for $230. Haven't put it on yet, but it looks like a nice product. The manual booster has a deeper hole in the piston for the pushrod, but the booster setup came with a plug that dropped in the hole that duplicated the depth of the power cylinder.

If you can get the spacer you should be able to use your existing master, that is my plan at least.
