Well I broke down and bit the price tag.

SO.....I am having my tranny rebuilt by a custom builder who does rebuilds on the side. He works for AAMCO. He is charging me about 2 grand for the level 4 rebuild and 400 for the labor to swap. Word to the wise to everyone.....never have your tranny "POWERFLUSHED"!!!

Re: Well I broke down and bit the price tag.

What do you consider "POWERFLUSHED"? I do transmission flushes at work every day. If someone comes in with 200,000 miles and asks for one and it's never been done then I explain they are taking a gamble. If they've been doing it every 50,000 miles then there should be no issues. If they are doing it to correct a transmission concern such as a slip or hard shift I also explain the risk taken that it may make it worse if it is already coming apart. Flushing the transmission is the only way for a 100% fluid exchange. Changing the filter and topping it off is better than nothing but you are only changing a third of the fluid in some cases. Bottom line is if the transmission is fine before the flush it will be fine after the flush. If it's starting to have issues it's probably gonna make it worse and it's too late for routine maintenance.
