Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

Was wondering if anyone has pics of some nice big block accessory setups. I'm not going to have the funds for a chromed out serpentine system, would rather keep it stock looking anyway.
I'm not worried about whether it originally comes on a truck or not, could come from cars too.
All I will be running is Alternator and Power Steering.

I already have a water pump, and I'm pretty sure it is the "long" water pump.

I'd want to maintain a clean look, preferably with the alt and ps pump mounted pretty tight together.

I can't stand those alt brackets that put the alt way out in left field.

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

I need simple brackets. I would prefer to have the power steering directly to the right of the balancer if possible, so it will be down low and out of the way. The alternator bracket needs to be top left but sucked in towards the water pump as much as possible.

When I get my big block built I want to be able to basically plug and play my wiring harnesses where they are now on my 350.

Im thinking that some of the old BBC muscle cars are going to have nicer brackets than 70s/80s trucks, considering trucks were built to work mostly, nothing fancy about them.

You will have to determine if you are going to run a long water pump or short pump.
Trucks ran long pumps. Cars generally ran short pumps. It will make a difference on your brackets for the accessories. Also the pump and crank pulleys. If you are going to wrecking yard hunt the brackets you will probably go long, much easier to find.
The brackets and mounting on the 73 to 78 trucks really does not look any different than the car version of the same era. The only accessory that hangs "out" to my eye is the A/C compressor but that's a GM norm with all divisions. My stock 77 454. The P/S is hard to see but it is tight and close to the crank.

Alan Grove sells some brackets you may like, and are simple and reasonably priced:

That is, if you can't find any used, factory, 'muscle car era' brackets that will work for you.

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

Alan Grove brackets as mentioned. They're simple & work.

If you ever plan to add a/c, factory 88-94 sbc GM serpentine set-ups can be detailed nicely & adapted to bbc's for about $200. The maint ease & advanced engineering of a proven serpentine set-up w/o the crazy high costs of an aftermarket kit.....

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

Found a couple power steering brackets I dig, but not crazy about this alternator bracket.

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

I bought some adapters from quik-performance. They allowed me to use the small block serpentine brackets from a small block chevy truck. I am really happy with the set-up.

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

you can make those adapters out of aluminum plate and some heli coil inserts. I did that for my 87 with a 454 poked and stroked to a 496. full accessories and never threw a belt

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

Thats a cool setup, but way overkill for my setup. I really like my power steering bracket on my 350. I posted about it about a year ago and someone said it was off a 70's truck. It mounts way low next to the balancer.

96-00 L29 454 brackets. Not sure if these will fit older BBC engines

yeah i made some the brackets for my bbc,but mine are made for using a serp set-up from a 87-92 fbody.i like the positioning of the tensioner better as it is more to the pass side, which allows me to run a "one piece" upper rad hose that i made out of schedule 40pvc and allows for a cleaner look.i dont knw how to post links, but i got the writeup/plans/measurements off a malibu gbody site.

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

I want to change my 454 to a serpentine setup but I just bought brand new accessories for the v belt setup. Is there a way to convert the pulleys on the power steering pump and 140amp alternator to match the serpentine brackets?

This is the setup I'm about to buy

As far as the P/S pump, just about any p/s pulley from a serp engine will fit a Saginaw p/s pump. I have two 8.1L rigs running TBI 5.7L P/S pulleys and one TBI 454 running a 4.3L P/S pulley. The Saginaw pump shaft diameter never really changed. If the pic is the brackets you plan to use you may run into interference where the p/s reservoir hits the bracket towards the top by the lid. I ran into that problem on my ’78 when it had a 454HO and 96-00 L29 brackets but a little tapping with a body hammer cleared things right up.

Not sure on the alternator but before chasing down a serp pulley for it make sure the alternator actually fits the bracket. The alternator that fits the brackets in your picture is a CS-144. There is a 124 AMP and 140 AMP version that fit that bracket. Not sure what you have. Good luck!

Re: Anybody have any Big Block Accessory Pics?

Thanks DirtyLarry, This is the alternator that I have. http://m.summitracing.com/parts/pwm-47294
It's unfortunate because I just bought it a month ago and haven't used it but I painted it so I guess I'll have to keep it.
