Disk brake and drop kit conversion question

Hey folks, I am about to get started doing a disk brake conversion and dropping the stance on my 67 stepper with a 4/6 kit. I am looking at a kit from ece and a mcgaughys kit I found on ebay from a company with good reputable reviews. Problem is both seem to be same kits with all the same components other than there is a $300 difference in price in the 2. Can somebody give me some insight as to their knowledge and quality of the McGaughys kits. From reading several post on the forum I believe I would be getting good quality pieces from ECE on theirs but it's hard to ignore a $300 difference by going with the Mcgaughys kits.

I used all Mcgaughys on my drop and upgrade and I stop like a champ and rides smooth

Used ece 4-6 kit. Worked great. I'm pretty sure you can't find anything bad to say about them. Went with wilwoods on brakes.

did ece dropped spindles and stock springs up front and dropped springs in back. 3 years later had a sagging coil up front. 1 phone call to ece, free replacement coils for the front with return prepaid shipping labels. That's why i shop ece.

I too am contemplating the mcgaughys setup as well. I am doing stock height, but found the mcgaughy set for around $530 for the front discs and stock height spindles. That is the best price I could find. I can't see paying that much more for the ece stuff,but that is just me.

Double check what comes in the kit from ECE against everybody else. When I really ran through the list, it seemed like ECE included items that others were missing. Some kits don't include the master or the prop valve, some don't have brake like adapters. I wanted a one-stop kit where I didn't have to go try and find stuff.



I went with a stock height ECE kit. They called me the day after I ordered and told me they didn't have any stock height spindles in stock, but they would substitute McGaughys spindles unless I wanted drop spindles. I already have drop springs so spindles would have been too much. The McGaughys spindles I got are nice pieces, and realistically the rest of the stuff is stock/aftermarket Chevy parts.

I think both are quality kits, but I have dealt with ECE a lot and they have always been helpful when I needed to call.
