Better driving light with LED?
I have looked into HID kits and am not interested in going that route. I am curious if anyone has ever installed one of the LED conversion kits in their headlights. Wondering what general opinions are of them in Chevy stock housings. I have a 94 1500 so it takes the 9005 and 9006 bulbs, currently have the brightest halogen that was available and they still arent enough crisp light as I would like.

Re: Better driving light with LED?
I ran an aftermarket wiring harness from the battery and put 80 watt low beams and 100 watt high beams in my 91 truck. That works really well with that setup. I presently have the same basic setup in my 2011 GMC.

Re: Better driving light with LED?
LEDs suck for driving lights. As stated get a harness upgrade and brighter bulbs.

Re: Better driving light with LED?
i like them much better then HID, don't buy the ebay 49.99 special (junk)- Go to a reputable LED distributor and buy them (such as Vleds.com)- i have some in my 93 blazer (they are wonderful) i also live in AK with about 20 hours of darkness in the dead of winter.

Re: Better driving light with LED?
I've really been contemplating some LED swaps. No ballasts to deal with. No relay harnesses and other miscellaneous BS. Instant-on; no having to wait for warm-up. A member on another forum put some LED headlights in his '88-'98 and says the beams are much better controlled than HIDs as well.
Like akdg87 says, don't cheap out on them if you do. That's part of what's been holding me back from pulling the trigger. I just haven't found the room in my budget to do it yet. VLEDs is a good source. http://www.vleds.com/led-headlights.html |

Re: Better driving light with LED?
Thanks for the input guys. So sounds like harness upgrade would benefit either option anyhow so might as well start there.

Re: Better driving light with LED?
Headlight harness upgrade incorporating relays is the first/best place to start for better lighting. Refer to the #9 post in my BUILD THREAD to get some ideas/see how I did it.
