What's needed for a powersteering conversion?
Hey guys, I was hoping you can help me with this...
What parts do I need to convert my 68 to a power steering? I just bought a used powersteering gearbox that came with the pulley. What else do I need and is it pretty hard to do? Thanks! |

Re: What's needed for a powersteering conversion?
Thinking of doing this for my 67. From what I gather you'll need the pump, gearbox, 2 groove pulley, and a rag joint. If your frame does not have a dimple to accept the gearbox, you either have to add spacers or dimple your frame. I know there are several threads on this topic here somewhere. Good luck.

You need the pump, brackets, hoses, steering box, hoses, pulleys. Is it a 6 or an 8?

Ever been tempted to drop your Tahoe's 5.3 into your 67 then find a newer 6.0 to drop into your 2002? I have.

No, I really like my inline 6. People always say "oh look it's still got the straight 6 in it" LOL.

Nothin' wrong with a 6. Good, dependable engine.

Re: What's needed for a powersteering conversion?
Guys,,,,question. Should I pull the grill, radiator, fan etc to do this conversion or try to do it with the truck intact? I will have to go from a 2 pulley system to a 3 pulley to accomodate the ps.
