I have been lurking here for a few years. What a great source of info. I bought a 65 K-10 about 4 1/2 years ago. The first pic is the day I brought it home. Jan of 2014 my son and I started tearing it down, we are doing a complete frame off rebuild and enhancement of it, I want it to look mostly stock except for the colors to the unknowing. We have been busy all year. I will be adding more info shortly. I just figured out how to add pictures and lets face it without pictures this is not much fun.

Here are some pictures of the frame once I completed the rust repair, and mocking up the axles. We went with 4:11 gears and posi's front and rear. The following pictures are of the 406 small block I had built for in the truck

. We finished the rolling chassis last summer, and dropped in the motor, a new 700R4, and a NP205 with a twin stick conversion. I added a serpentine system with ac and power steering.

Here are a few pictures of when I fired the motor and ran it for break-in. My neighbors love me. I am blessed to live in a town we pushed the rolling chassis with the motor, transmission, transfer case etc... out into the driveway on a sunny Saturday afternoon before hunting seasons started. I had a piece of plywood sitting on the the frame with the instrument cluster and battery, all connected. We lit it off and it fired quickly, 475 extremely healthy horses sounds very very good. We only had dumps on the open headers. We ran it for 20 minutes like that at 2000 RPM. Then I had to play with the throttle a little. OK, so we played with the throttle a lot. The last picture is the day we set the cab back on to start mocking it up. All new floors, cab corners, etc... It was a PA truck there was lots of rust repair.

Assembled the truck with the original hood (black), pushed it outside for the second pic with the hood we are using last fall right before the snow started. Then my winter project was to fix more rust (mostly in the bed).

Some picture of the outside as it was before I started to tear it down for the final bodywork before paint. Please note my faux wood painted tailgate, (was in the garage to late that night...) it will all get sanded off. Fit a solid antenna from a 72 in the passenger cowl panel. Factory aluminum grill all redone, moved the gas tank to the rear (still have to cut a filler door into the side). Lots of work here still hopefully have it painted by late April or early May. Interior pictures! We cut out the original ash tray welded the hole shut and drilled two holes in the center for the ac also drilled holes on both outside edges for two more ac outlets. Made a plate and welded it in to fit the Retrosound radio. Mounted a new 67-72 steering column. Seats out of a 2004 Silverado moved as far back in the cab as possible. Custom fit Lokar gas and brake pedals mounted so they fit me.

Motor shots. This is as together as its got. Started to tear her back down to paint. I will try to keep more current with the photos. Starting the last bit of cutting and modifying to the body today, hopefully get a fuel filler door installed in the bedside. Then smooth everything out and making it pretty.

Finally got up the courage to cut the hole in the bedside for the filler door. I am confident in my welds in anything thicker than sheet metal. So I used a panel bonder last night, along with screws to hold it. Headed to the garage now going to remove the screws and plug weld the holes.

Score of the build, 15 X 8 CUCV wheels. I found a guy over a year ago that has a junk CUCV he bought for the motor. He told me then the wheels would be mine when he gets to it. Got the call this week.

So I stopped at my dads, he had a set of dog dish caps he took of a new 85 in 85. Now I know what wheels I will be running.
