blueprint engines?
I have been looking around and they have a 632 big block for around 12000... that sounds unbeleivably affordable and also too good to be true. and, well most likely isnt??? any thoughts?

Re: blueprint engines?
I have a bit of experience with them on the 383 they sell . I ask who made the crank , rods and pistons and they told me they source that out . I passed and had one built local .
12K is reasonable

Re: blueprint engines?
Well good to know, sounds shady. I have an engine builder here locally but since my truck is in another state waiting for chassis build I ask him questions and he doesn't really get back to me. Ex. I want 800 hp good reliable street/strip motor , the fab guy needs to know what I'm going with.bbc sbc? Ls? And I get a poor reply so I've decided not use him. Nothing definitive. My budget for complete engine is 16000. So I found them and they sounded like big power for the buck. Thanks for your input.

Re: blueprint engines?
Head over to google and search VortecPro.com. He build solid, reliable power on a budget. He's got a 496 package that makes 650 HP for less than $6,500 and a great reputation to boot. The power in these engines isn't voodoo or trick stuff, just a good combo that works and Mark has it figured out. Good luck.

Re: blueprint engines?
For 16k you can get a whole lot of engine. A stroker 408 can get you great reliable power. 800hp at the crank or wheel?

Re: blueprint engines?
@Tiddlar
I just wanted to chime in and say hi and see if I could help and answer any questions. Our office is closed today, but feel free to message me here if you want! My name is Dru and I am the Product Manager for BluePrint Engines. On our 632 crate engine, we use our own castings. We used to buy blocks from Dart or World, but we started casting our own blocks a few years ago (yes, its cast in the USA). That was a huge factor in us being able to build the engine for such a good price! We also offer a great warranty for any manufacturing defects or parts we provide on the engine. We sell engines all over the world, to a lot of customers - Jegs, Summit Racing, Speedway Motors, Rocket Industries etc... If we didn't build a good engine and stick by our warranty we wouldn't still be able to do business with all of those great companies! Someone else had a question on our advertised horsepower numbers… those numbers are from the crank. There are a lot of factors that have to be considered when figuring rear wheel horsepower and its just impossible to figure without having the engine installed in the customers vehicle and on an engine dyno. Here are a couple of examples of our PS6320CTC installed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3I1nt-cZnnA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GP6fEUHvSY0 So as you can see… our engines go in everything! Thanks again for considering us and let me know if you have questions! Dru |

Re: blueprint engines?
Nelson Racing makes a 632 for around 16k I think.
Check out: http://www.one-guys-garage.com/71-chevy.php He makes turbo kits, engines, etc for great prices. He could make you a turbo LS for probably half the cost.

Re: blueprint engines?
If he needs a block to mock up some frame rails of whatever I would get a plastic crate engine. They're not much and you can lift them in and out by hand. We had a sbc for when my brother built his s-10. Made everything easier. Vortec pro does a wicked 496 pump gas motor also. He works closely with Chris Straub, who in my opinion is a wizard when it comes to camshafts and head combos. These 2 make a wicked combo! And you can call and get tons of ideas and info from them. I talked to chris on Christmas Eve about some sbf heads for my brothers mustang. They're hotrodders for sure. Take care.
Straubtechnologies.com Wolfsplace.com I'm not sure if wolfs place is the right web address.. Also I think the 632 uses a bigger block than your standard bbc. It's like a gnarly stroke and I think they're all tall deck, I may be wrong.

Re: blueprint engines?
I gave the web address for mike lewis(wolfs place) instead of mark jones(vortec pro). Sorry about the mix up. Either one of the two is money well spent. That TRE 522 makes some good power! What kinda fuel are you looking to run and what is the main purpose of the motor? Streetable or strictly track?
Hitrod80, what block did you go with on your 420+ sbc?
