4 row radiator, gap @ bottom of shroud

I recently replaced the radiator in my '68 with a 4 row from a big block truck.
I also replaced the radiator holding cups, and top clamps, with the bigger ones.
I had to slightly modify the core support, (a couple small notches) to accommodate the larger bottom cups.
With this new setup, the bottom of the fan shroud won't bolt op tight to the core support, it leaves about a 1/2 inch gap.
I have a couple questions.
1- Did trucks with 4 row radiators get different core supports, to accommodate the larger cups and shroud gap.
or,
2- Were the core supports factory modified and a slightly different shroud used?

It's not a big deal. nothing a couple spacers couldn't solve, I was just wondering

No, it doesn't answer my questions, that was the first thing I did, thanks though.

The core supports were the same but modified at the bottom much as you've done. On mine an inch or so of the lower vertical lip was bent toward the engine on each side to accommodate the longer cushions. As I recall my early 69 originally was screwed to the core support at the bottom. I don't know if mine was unique in that regard, but I think it was later that they started using a clip on each side that was an extended version of those used for the smaller radiators. I don't know if they are reproduced. Here are a couple of links.

You can become a supporting member and post a want to buy ad on the parts board or reply to a ad such as this http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=660332 and ask if he has any available from the truck listed. A/C trucks normally had 4 core radiators.
