Re: vent window rivet installation help!

I never remove the pivot rivet itself.
I remove the two rivets from the frame to bracket.

Re: vent window rivet installation help!

Are they folding over correctly, and just not crushing down? I used the tool until it folded over, then used a large flat punch to get it as firm as I wanted. Worked great.

Re: vent window rivet installation help!

I took an Arbor press and drilled out the center of the press to put the tool in. Works pretty good.

I really have no idea why the tools for these tubular rivets are so expensive.

Re: vent window rivet installation help!

I used a pop rivet and a rivet gun on both my trucks, first truck I did about 15 years ago and it's still good.

Mine never have. I just bought the shortest rivets I could find. I originally bought the rivets and tool shown above and finally threw them away.

Re: vent window rivet installation help!

ok i figured it out. i flipped the window upside down then put the top of the rivet on a jack and put the tool on the bottom. have a buddy hold the window while you hit the tool into the rivet with a hammer. it took about 10-30 seconds yo get it to mushroom and seat how i wanted it. ps. (in the picture i haven't got the rivet mushroomed all the way)
