Rear gas tank install 1970 C10
I've done lots of searches on this subject. I haven't really found a thread with a install on a fleetside, short box, with the metal floor, leaving the box on the truck. I bought a Counterpart(same as Lmc) blazer tank and was hoping to find some info and pictures on this install with details on the filler neck install. Thanks in advance for any tips and pics...

I'll follow along but my bet is buy a 12 pack and have a few buddy's come help take the bed off. Not worth the fight considering you are putting somethin someplace it was never setup to be.

I had mine put in by the guys that did my frame shortening. I don't know exactly how they installed it. I would bet it was done when they shortened the bed as well. Here is what they did for the filler neck. Works great. I can take some more pictures from underneath there if you think it will help.

So I've decided to scrap the blazer tank route and ordered a RCI 16 gal fuel cell. Hopefully it will fit well under the truck and will only have a couple inches showing below the frame rails.
Hears what the blazer tank looked likes installed....yuk!

Just to show you how the problem is solved on the farm on a '69 GMC.
The tank (not sure of the capacity) is mounted/strapped under the bed along the driver's side in front of the rear wheel well with the fill cap exposed in the wheel well. Easy install. (Problems with mud accumulating around the cap at times, though.) The existing tank wasn't removed, instead a valve sits next to the driver's seat in the cab that allows for changing which tank the fuel feeds from. Of course, you don't get a fuel level reading out of the auxiliary tank. But like I said, this is a farm truck.
