Exhaust tailpipes tips

Let's see your tailpipes! With stock stepside bed and chrome bumper, I'm leaning towards dual exhaust with 45 degree angles at the back . Other options are straight out the back , or "dumped " in front of the rear axel. I have nice stainless 3" slant tips I can use.

Re: Exhaust tailpipes tips

Here's how I have mine. I like the look of two pipes exiting straight out under the bumper but it will smoke up the bumper. I don't like turn downs as they resonate and make a roar at some speeds, so this is what I chose. You can barely see these but you could adjust the position if you wanted them to be more visible.

Re: Exhaust tailpipes tips

Thanks for the tip about the bumper . I always had pipes out the back , but didn't have a bumper . I like the position your pipes are in.... Haven't decided yet on re using my big slant tips.... I do like the downward / at and angle tailpipe position

Re: Exhaust tailpipes tips

Mine come right out of the glasspacs and dump down in front of the rear axel. No negative issues at all. I put a set of cutouts infront of the mufflers for s---s and giggles and like my system.

Re: Exhaust tailpipes tips

Clear out the back unless you are thinking of running a camper shell and letting someone or a pet ride in the back.

Not a fan of the way the ones on Capnduane's truck exit before the axle. The constant drone of the exhaust under the truck would give me a headache before I got 20 miles down the road. A buddy used to have his set up that way and I couldn't stand to ride in it but he loved it.

Re: Exhaust tailpipes tips

I do have a chrome bumper so....... I think you need to carry the shape/theme of the rear of your truck to the exhaust. I didn't want round because nothing else was round on mine.....and I can't stand square corners. Everything needs a radius. The sort of Chevelle tips worked well for me......I think. It's all about theme. I have cutouts for noise and I'll never(maybe age) have anything in front of the wheels again.

: )

That upside down bumper and pipes is REALLY cool thinking. I love ideas like that...although I'd probably have to over think it.

Hello Speedbumpauto
You mentioned that you would never put the exhaust tail pipes in front of the wheels again.
I am curious as to why you would not do this again.

Re: Exhaust tailpipes tips

guess I'm just getting too darn old. Had lots of them in my time because they're easier to do but I find the sound annoying on a long cruise now. I threw money at electronic cutouts on my last project so I could have loud in front of the wheels when I wanted but mellow out the back for cruising. Will turn some heads at a stop light though. Old mans revenge to the loud music car next to you.

Dan, I'm not sure where the license plate goes but I bet we could figure it out.

Is my photo upside down to everyone else? It is to me. Annoying as hell, sorry guys. I'd fix it if I could.
