Is there a web site that shows the true value of our trucks like they do they do the vintage cars ?

i can't say i know much about nada, but every for sale ad i've seen where someone referenced it they were WAY off. could be user error though, i don't know...

None of the guides are any good with value. You need to know your area & what things sell for there. Nada lists a truck in poor shape for say $5,000 so guys with rust buckets think they have a $5g truck when in reality it's a $500 truck. Anybody who mentions NADA or any other guide in their ads has no idea of market value so I steer clear of them till they figure it out lol

Are you looking to buy or sell? A $500-1000 truck here in the Northwest is a $1500-3000 truck in the northeast. Guides don't tellyou that though, so best to just do the research.

the best price guide----what are you willing to pay?. people price these trucks from reasonable to insane. most people think their truck is worth more than it really is. some sell in one day some stay listed and never sell. there are too many variables based on condition and location. I don't trust any price guide

I feel there can never be an accurate price guide made on any vehicle decades old. Kelly and Nada never went back more than 5 years till the classic vehicle market hit the mainstream. Of course they would come out with price guides. They saw the money to be made by expanding their realm to meet demand. The only way it would be close to accurate would be with 100% restored to 100% factory showroom condition. There are far too many variables involved with vehicles that are decades old. They've lived various lives in various climates, with various owners, various changes/upgrades/quality of parts used/quality of craftsmanship and even all the various models and options within the same body style, year, or whatever. One beautiful vehicle could have parts with hundreds of thousands of miles while another never broke 70k. They both look the same sitting side by side, but are they both the same? I've never seen a restoration that replaced every single part of the vehicle but the VIN-plate

AGREE with everything said here. You've actually taken the first correct step in posting an inquiry on this message board. This forum in invaluable in itself! Do some homework and check local listings: newspaper, ebay, and Craigs List (prob. the best). It's a lot of fun actually... I check C.L. all the time in So. California. There are Guys that want the moon for trucks that you probably could not give away in other areas. They get it in their head that the 67-72 Chevys are the next BOOM for classic cars, and fire away. Car shows/swap meets are good too. This is where the deals really go down.

Finally, ask around. Everyone LOVES to talk about (their) cars. You'll get an idea soon enough for what you want to buy or sell.

Man that NADA is wildly on the high side. Case in point: I was driving my '71 GMC Jimmy home one Sunday night after work, when a guy pulled up on my right and asked if it was for sale. Normally I just say no, but I was feeling like a wise a$$, so I said "Twenty-Five" then the light changed and I took off. At the next light, he's all hot and bothered: "25 Hundred? I could get that..."
"No 25 Grand" I said. [Meaning it's not for sale, so don't bug me. But if you're dumb AND rich, I'll take your money and buy 2 more and build 'em up.]
Anyway at $25,000, I wasn't too far off from NADA pricing.

It's very true, same goes for parts. I bought a rust free original shortbox (box only) for $475. I see people asking 1500+.
