Help with Power Brakes '57 3100 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hello....I am re-doing the brakes on my '57...it has been upgraded with a later style power brake booster, etc....I have 2 questions I was hoping someone could help me with....1) Any idea what this booster is off of?...It is marked Bendix 11869 but I cannot find a reference online....the truck has a custom brake pedal asm and I was was hoping for a direct replacement booster....bolt hole spacing is 3 1/4(width) and 3 1/2(height....2) When looking at replacement master cyl/brake booster I see that most have the proportioning valve mounted to the brake asm...mine is mounted low on my frame..does it matter?

I haven't a clue what what booster would have come from. Google and Rockauto.com are both as clueless as I am.
This might be a good time to upgrade to hydroboost

I don't think there is any problem with having your prop valve mounted low. Certainly a lot of us have them mounted down by the frame rail as that's where a lot of us have the MC.

Four bolt holes on the master makes it look like Mopar. Pictures on Ebay from E body, Cuda/Challenger, look similar.

This should help narrow the field some. Are there any number on the master cylinder? What else is on the booster?

Thanks....never thought of Mopar....but my front suspension is from an Aspen....looks like the brake booster asm was used as well.....

Hello.....so....I will be replace my master cylinder/booster this weekend....I will also be replacing the brake lines & proportioning valve as well....you can see from the pictures it is a mess...question....on my master cylinder which portion should I connect the front brakes too?....the most forward position?...i.e. closest to the front?..originally fronts where connected to the rear but I am not sure if this is correct....

In my experience, you want discs connected to the larger reservoir of the two, and drums connected to the smaller one.
