78 SWB 4.8 swap questions
Hello,
I'm thinking of installing a 4.8 liter & trans. into my 78. I found one on CL for $2300 that has been sitting for three years, I was wondering is that a good price? Should I be concern that the motor has sat for three years? Also I was wondering what others have done for fuel deliver. Did you install a new EFI gas tank? If so was it in the stock location and were did you get the tank? Any advice on this and anything else about the LS swap would be great. Thanks |

Re: 78 SWB 4.8 swap questions
Sounds pretty high for a 4.8. I picked up my 5.3 dropout for $1200, and prices have stayed there in my area for a while. I would keep looking; you could probably find a whole truck for $2300.
I used an '87 fuel tank and sender for the swaps I have done, along with a Delco EP381 fuel pump. All of this fits in the stock location. Rock auto is where I have sourced mine from, using the Spectra brand sender and tank.

Re: 78 SWB 4.8 swap questions
I am doing the same swap in my '76 and I got a complete 4.8l drop out for $1000. The price you found is more in the line with a 6.0l. I did the same as Jonboy, for fuel system.
