New Project 1963 C10

Picked up this truck for 500 bucks of craigslist and dug in.

heres some picture of it when I got it.

Shortly after got it ripped apart.

Got a 73 complete cross member from the local picknpull and started cleaning that up. Planning on using all of the updated steering and what not from that.

Got it stripped and all the parts cleaned up and painted.
Here it reasembled.

Got the frame all cleaned up. Welded and reinforced places notched out from fuel tank relocations and adjusted frame horns from a accident it had been in. Paint followed that. Found a good deal on a basic air ride kit. Here some pics of the complete rolling chassis, minus brakes.

And thats it so far.

Picked up a 2001 z28 camaro for a really good deal...previous owner couldnt smog it due to removing catalytic converters and needed something more fuel ecomic. Body and interior were not in great shape, but were just using it for the parts...

-ls1
-t56 and other misc parts.

pics will be posted when that comes...but have other things like air ride plumbing and brakeline ect before the camaro get torn into.

Re: New Project 1963 C10

Yeah I kept it 6 lug..was easy enough to do so and I could still use the rims that came with it for temporary.

Thanks!

Re: New Project 1963 C10

Kept mine 6 also...I run steel wheels and figured I will stay with it since I had the drop/disc upgrade in 6 already. I might have some extra 15x8 6lug rims if you ever want to see how they look for kicks...Good work, take care

Great build going on. Love that you are going to run an LS but sad to see that Camaro come apart.

Re: New Project 1963 C10

Haven't had much time to work on the truck recently...but was able to finish up a couple things in the last week.

Starting out, got the steering attached from the cross member swap. Idler arm drilled and attached. Steering box attached, frame boxed, and crush sleeves between the box and frame. Still need to drill out the other two holes though.

Welded up some motor mounts and got a trans universal poly mount. Trans is bolted in and has room for adjustment. motor is centered and clamped in place for the time being..the trailer I have to use to get the body to my house is being borrowed at the moment so getting that on the frame is the next step to make sure everything clears well.

Put the motor and trans in to make sure I cleared everything okay...

Going to need to modify the stock passenger manifold because the egr flange impacts the frame side motor bracket.

In the mean time I got the brake lines roughed in. Rear axle brake line is done all other lines are routed just waiting for brake line clips and the cab for final mouthing positions.

Here's a couple pics.

Waiting on a mild c notch, poly motor isolators, and shoes and wheel cylinders to rebuild rear drums.
