Control Arm Questions
Hello to all. I am performing a frame off on a 70 C10 SNB. It is completely torn down the frame is heading off to powder coating soon. My question is, I have purchased 6 lug disc brake kit and drop spindles from Brothers. I tore the control arms apart and all the thread are virtually non existent. What is my best option outside of tubular control arms? I need a solution pretty quick as I was going to powder coat these as well. All input appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Control Arm Questions
I don't know of any holes in a control arm with threads in them. What part are you concerned with?

Re: Control Arm Questions
The ends on both the upper and lower control arms. The shaft that goes through the bottom of the control arms is the threaded on the end. The cap that screws on the end of this that has the grease zerk is threaded on both the inside and outside. It screws into the shaft and then looks like it was threaded on the outside to screw into the control arm. These threads are damaged/non existent. I am concerned about this.

Re: Control Arm Questions
They are just rings made into the OD of the bushing. If they are worn you need to replace the shafts. They do not thread into the arms.

Re: Control Arm Questions
Ok that is what I needed to know. So only the shaft and the inside of the cap are threaded? It appeared that the outside of the cap was threaded as well. The shaft threads and the inner cap threads are in good shape.

Re: Control Arm Questions
Technically the outside surface of the caps/nuts are threaded but they are not what secures the assembly. The threads in the arms & outer side of the caps/nuts are not cut deep so that's why they might appear worn. As indicated, the shaft threads & inner cap/nut threads are what keep things together.
