Help Id a q-Jet
I picked up a q-jet from a board member, number as follows
7042211 this fits perfectly into the decoding charts I see on line... being a 71/72 carb from a Chevy My good friend has a Q-jet on his 70 c20 350/manual and the number is as follows 07040502 My question is, what the heck does the 0 at the beginning mean? Also, the 4 digit date code on the carb in question is 3165 which would as far as I can tell mean it was made on the 316th day of 65? 75? Any ideas? The 70 with the carb in question is a bit of an odd ball in that it is a factory c20 1 ton longhorn so I am at a loss. Last edited by Mr Handy; 03-10-2015 at 06:45 AM. |

Not sure about the 0, but the numbers indicate it's a 1970 California carb built for a Chevy. You are correct about the Julian date code - 316th day of 1975. That means it was likely a service replacement carburetor and not the original.
