GMC Truck Vehicle Information Kits
Are GMC Truck Vehicle Information Kits available anywhere online? I searched here and on GM Heritage Center and am only able to find Chevrolet Trucks. I'm looking for GMC options, packages, and trim levels. Looking for what is included with Sierra and Sierra Grande packages.
I'm not sure Vehicle Information Kits is the correct name for the document because there is no name or cover page on the document, but the GM Heritage Center cals them Vehicle Information Kits. Thanks in advance for your help. Dave |

Re: GMC Truck Vehicle Information Kits
Subscribing.
I'm not aware of any GMC specific info packets but willing to learn if they are out there. I don't recall creating GMC documents for engineering use back in the day. For my specific use it normally doesn't matter, since by the time the squarebodies came around the option content and packages were exactly the same (other than the name plate used). ie; X88 = Chevrolet Nameplate Conversion Z88 = GMC Nameplate Conversion K

Re: GMC Truck Vehicle Information Kits
All that info can be found right here. Just ask if you can't find an existing thread. Chevy and GMC went the same path with options (with few exceptions), so you just need to know the Chevy equivalent of the GMC. The exceptions can be easily sorted out. The exception is GMC introduced the Sierra and Sierra Grande before Chevy did the Cheyenne and Cheyenne Super, although those GMC trim levels were options on top of another trim level till 71/72 when the fourth trim level was introduced (Cheyenne Super)

Re: GMC Truck Vehicle Information Kits
Thanks for all the responces. It sounds like they are almost identical. I was aware of the sierra and sierra options in 1970.

Re: GMC Truck Vehicle Information Kits
Late '69 is when they started, but close. They would be an option on the custom and Super Custom till '71. GMC used Dana 44 and 60 rears in a 1/2t that was never offered in a Chevy, then of course there was the V6. Some paint colors were GMC-only and Chevy-only and some were both.
