The Old School CB Loook has been completed....Lets see your CBRadio
Well after a lot of research I purchased a Radio Shack (Uniden Board) TRC 449 and a TX 400 Amp to install in my truck. The TRC 449 is a really good mobile radio with the 858 chip. The amp was made in Ohio and had that old school look. I have an old NOS Hippo CB antenna that I will be using to complete the old school CB look.
Ok ... lets see your CB

Did you unlock the PLL for more channels?
Cut the power back and raise the modulation level? Many years ago, I lived in Reno NV. I had an old Cobra 138 in the truck with a Firestick 1/2 wave. I would talk to my buddies down here in AZ quite a bit. We went to 27.790 LSB and it was great...I forget which amp I had on it. Waiting to see the install.

Wow this brings back memories! I'm only 33 but when I was a kid we had a CB base station at home. I used to fool around on there a lot at night. It was like the old version of a chat room or facebook.

70cst, your radio looks great! Can't wait to see the install. We used to spend a lot of time at radio shack.
Here's mine. The twin truckers are new, but I think they look period correct. The cobra 29 was NIB. It looks too new for the truck, but it was cheap so I figured what the heck. It's a 23 channel which is what we all had back in the day. My Grandpa had CBs on all the tractors(6ch) and in the farm trucks. So we could talk from one field to another. Grandma had a base station(23ch) at the house. Good times!
