4 headlight setup help....

So its been four years since I've had my truck together. A buddy of mine gave me a factory 4 light core support and matching wiring harness. This has replaced the POS aftermarket core support I had on before I took it apart. I have a few questions about putting it back together.

I have already ordered 8 of the adjustment nuts and screws, and i didnt cheap out and get the dorman brand, they break easily. I am lacking the 4 springs though to hold the lights in place.

Does anyone have any pics of which way the square plastic nut goes in the core support, and also where exactly the springs attached? Its been awhile.

Also I have 2 good headlights with three prong connectors (2A1), I am assuming these are the main headlights that mount up top?

I have one clean (1A1) which is two prong, thinking this is the bright headlight?

Thanks in advance guys

Re: 4 headlight setup help....

The three prongs are the Hi/Lo beams and yes they are on top. The two prong is the Hi beam and they go on the bottom. I haven't got a picture of mine, but if I remember right the springs hook onto the core support in a little divot just behind the light tray. The plastic nuts oare on the outside and above the trays and insert from the front of the core support.

I eliminated the factory style sealed beam headlights on my 4 bulb light setup and put in aftermarket light housings with replaceable high wattage bulbs in them and a seperate wiring harness from the battery. I went for the max lighting that I could achieve for the errant Bambi population, that we have jumping out in front of vehicles in my area. It took a little to figure out the wiring alignment for them all to work, but it can be done.

Yeah I got alot of deer by my house too, I live close to some big undeveloped pieces of land.

Louis C.K. has a hilarious bit about hitting a deer in his car, you should youtube it, hahaha.

Re: 4 headlight setup help....

hey guys, got everything attached for now but my headlights wont work. The park lights work though, and only the left turn signal works. I haven't really looked into whats going on, got tired of working on it last night.

Does anyone know off hand what the harness that plugs into the firewall/bulkhead plug on the far drivers side goes to?

there is three harnesses that plug there, engine, front lights, and???

IDK what year or series truck yours is - but it is a fairly safe assumption that you are asking about the rear lighting group. It is small section (only 4 leads) and transits the FW at the bottom of the bulkhead connection (depending on MY).

The fuel tank level sensing lead is included in the engine section of the block (the fuel pump/tank switching power feeds - if applicable - have a dedicated grommet). After being led through the FW, they are then run back to the tanks using the same conduit as the lighting harness.

Re: 4 headlight setup help....

Double check all of your ground connections. Those headlights are real funny about working intermittently if at all, if the grounds are good enough.

This explains why the brake lights werent working. Its weird though because i cant find that plug? I didnt undo my rear lighting..... maybe its hanging out under the truck?

Re: 4 headlight setup help....

In stock trucks does the front light harness run on the engine side of the radiator? I seem to have alot of excess harness between the two front amber park lights...

Re: 4 headlight setup help....

The front lighting harness goes outside of the core support from the drivers side and snakes along the bottom just under the front bumper filler panel.
