That's still a pretty decent looking truck, running or not. And asking prices aren't necessarily selling prices, just a place to start a conversation.

Re: Kijiji find, not mine.
There are a lot fewer '60-'66 trucks north of the border that are in one piece, and it seems each owner of those trucks figures their truck is worth more because it survived this long regardless of condition.

Re: Kijiji find, not mine.
Were going to hear the term " survivor" more and more in the future regardless of country. And it does mean something. We should be thankful for the folks who kept and stored their vehicles as the way GM built them, rather than clearing up their yards and scrapping their vehicles. Most of their neighbors in farm country all had these vintage pickups at one time, but how many kept them? They deserve all they can get from the dwindling supply of unmolested vehicles.

I respectfully disagree. Adding terms like survivor or rare doesn't make it more valuable. I feel it's damaging to the hobby. Everyone seems to think they have a collectable car or truck just because it's old. People can ask whatever they want but don't try to push it as something it's not. I don't care about your sentiments, It doesn't get rid of the rust or make a non running truck run. Just because you've seen one sell at Barrett Jackson for high dollars doesn't make this worth more all of the sudden. Ask the real collectors of antiques and other vintage items what American pickers has done to their hobby. I feel it's along the same lines. |
