Where to find wiring diagram for my truck?
i have a 71' gmc c-2500 custom camper. it has the duel battery set up and wires going back to the bed for what i asume was a in bed camper. i want to get rid of all of that and just go to a single battery and one wire alternator. i can not find wiring diagram for this wire set-up. i have a few shop manuals that have factory firing diagrams for single battery set up but none for the camper set up. does anyone know where i might be able to download a diagram for this? probably more than i can handle. i am not real comfortable with wiring.
thanks, ronniej |

The dual battery wiring diagram is in the assembly manual. If you don't have one, they are pretty helpful. Someone may post the diagram, yet. I would suggest that you remove everything carefully as you may want to sell the setup. Some board members are wanting to add the dual battery setup!
I have not seen a camper wiring diagram, but the wiring is a completely separate harness that starts from the small terminal on the right fender and connects between the taillight wiring with male/female plugs at the firewall where the white ground wire is grounded. From there it is routed to the bed with clamps and is easy to follow. It is fairly easy to follow and remove to keep it intact. Good luck! Jim |

would there be any reason i might want to keep the duel battery set up in the truck? i don't think i will ever tow anything but a car trailer with the truck. i just thought these were used for campers.
thanks for the info, ronniej |

Personal preference, but I think that it is a neat setup. It would be useful if you want to leave your lights on without the engine running or play your radio, for example. The extra battery is not tied into the starting circuit and activates with the ignition switch
for charging or using (with the factory wiring). My son's Burb is equipped with the dual battery setup and he is keeping it just because it was factory equipped and he likes to play his radio, (not installed yet as the Burb is still under restoration). Jim |
