Bed removal question.
I'm planning on removing a bed off 3/4 ton truck with the two saddle gas tanks. You know. The ones that have the square sheet metal door flaps on each side of the bed.
My question is . . . . Other than the fuel lines themselves. Is there anything else that needs disconnected (from the frame of the truck) before I can lift off the bed? Thanks. Darren

I'd drop the tanks before removing the bed. I took my one out by grinding the heads off the carriage bolts in the bed. The nuts were rusted quite well.
If you leave them, you will want to disconnect the sending unit wires if it has them. edit: There should be a couple of ground straps from the bed to the frame. Usually ahead of the rear tires.

removal
Well other than the taillight wiring thats about it. As for taking the tanks out first... doesnt work, at least didnt for me. The way they are shaped, they dont fit past the curve of the lower part of the bed side. Just did this a coouple weeks ago. All I wanted to do was take out the tanks. Well now Im going to have a full body off resto. And make sure you get at least 8 guys to help ...LOL Or the correct way. Some sort of crane or winch from above. GOOD LUCK
