A Couple Of Firsts Today
I put a snow plow and tire chains on my truck for winter duties. Today was the first day the chains have been off since November. Also the first time it has been on the road since November.
Since November it has only seen work on my driveway and out on the lake (where there is no salt). First time over 20 mph since November too. Oh and first time out of four wheel drive since November.

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs. |

Re: A Couple Of Firsts Today
Andy, you have good taste. I also like it a lot (there's your proof...heh heh). It sure is nice to have the snow going away. I still have it on my property but expect it gone this week. I think before I drive the '72 I'll jack it up and pull the springs to force me to do the work it has needed for years. Springs are sagged and shocks are shot. The wheels and tires are needed for my Suburban and the ones I have for the '72 require it to go up a bit. If I don't it could be another year

Re: A Couple Of Firsts Today
Thanks for the kind words guys. Our snow completely disappeared in the last week. Even on the north side of hills and trees. We didn't get a ton this year so it went fast.
Though I have the chains off, after plowable May snowstorms the past two springs I'm not putting them away yet. As anybody who has dealt with tire chains knows, it is best to keep them "orderly" so if you have to put them on it isn't too much of a pain. So what I did yesterday is lay them out on the shop floor, close to where they need to go if called into action again. When doing so it appears I'm missing a cross piece. It is only about a mile walk out to where the house was so I took a stroll yesterday afternoon but didn't find it. Then I walked the yard where I plow my ice road. No luck there either. I'm not too worried about it being out on the ice as it will fall to the bottom eventually and not cause anybody any problems. I'm worried about finding it with the lawn mower this summer. Oh well. The search for "the missing link" continues...

Re: A Couple Of Firsts Today
Still a little snow here, but not much. I only plowed 3 times this winter and of those 3, only 1 time really needed it. I hear ya about being ready to plow until about the fishing opener, I pushed more snow with the 71 last april than all of this season!
Good lookin truck!
