advice on a starter
This might sound like a really dumb question, but I need to get a new starter and my truck is a 1962 C10 with the stock bellhousing but running an early sbc 350 (1969 is the block number) which starter would I be looking for? Does anyone have any recommendations or tips for buying one? I heard people talking about the mini starters saying it gives more space for air to cool it down and keeps them from overheating? Thanks so much everyone in advance!

Re: advice on a starter
If your engine is stock...stick with a stock starter for economy reasons...I run the Powermaster 9100 gear reduction on 2 of my trucks because of high compression and they are around $125. I have 2 newer OEM stock starters one nice Chrome 153 tooth "small ring gear" if you want one.....

Re: advice on a starter
Does your starter bolt to the engine or the bellhousing?

Re: advice on a starter
i have always had mine rebuilt by gen star electric . they are a little family owned business since 1964. 623-939-2202 maybe you can ship it to them and you get back the same part too.
