64 c10 lower control arm removal

I am currently trying to lower my 64 c10. I've got the front tires drums and shocks off. I've removed the cotter pins and I cannot get the control arm to drop. I've tried to separate it with a pickle wrench and it bottoms out and still won't drop. Please help.

Are you talking about the ball joints?

You can hit them from the top with a hammer (messes up the ball joint but always worked for me) or get a ball joint separator.

Be careful though. The spring can hurt you when it is released.

yup sometime you just gotta beat the hell out of them. after my fork failed i had to hit the top of the ball joint with a 2 pound sledge and a solid piece of 2 foot long metal bar so i could get a good swing in. just take your time and take a break when you get frustrated.
