contemplating another 2wd conversion. Let's see what you got.

Short story is I bought a 72 AZ 4x4 and shipped it to MI. Needs a lot more work than I planned. It has a 4" spring lift, great 35" bfg at's, fresh 700r4 (0 miles), np205. I just had the rear geared with 4:56's and detroit trutrac. I have a jeep for trail riding and don't know that i'll off road the blazer. I still need to gear the front and have a new front driveshaft made, so the cost is still rising.

So I have a chance to get a complete rolling 2wd frame from a 71. He's asking $750. I'd probably do a simple lowering kit, replace all bushings and ball joints, blast and paint everything. One main ? is will this lower the value of the blazer? And how much do you think the complete rolling 4wd frame with t-case would be worth. There's no scale or pitting.

I'd also like to see blazers with simple drops, 2/4 4/6. I love notched and bagged blazers but that's not in the budget.

Re: contemplating another 2wd conversion. Let's see what you got.

Go for it. The Blazer is far from original with the '68 clip, which will look good on a 2-wheeler. $750 is a good price for the frame. Value; subjective, but 2wd are currently popular and hard to come by, so their price typically reflects that. Generally speaking, desirable 4wd are either very original or restored to appear so; custom 4wd appeal to a small audience. Did I mention go for it?

Re: contemplating another 2wd conversion. Let's see what you got.

My opinion,.. a conversion done with an original 2wd coil spring frame is worth more than converting a 4x4 leaf spring frame.
Since I'm a 2wd kind of guy,... it would be worth ALOT more to me, than in it's current 4x4 condition.
The demand for 2wd blazers is more than the supply.
I would build what YOU want and not worry about it's worth, unless you are just going to flip it anyway.

Also,... that 2wd frame appears to be a '72 frame with the built in rear bumper brackets.

I think that Blazer will look better as a 2wd. IMO the 67/68 front end lends itself well to lowered 2wd Blazers.

Re: contemplating another 2wd conversion. Let's see what you got.

I'm also worried about being happy with the stance keeping it on coils. Imo stock 2wd do nothing for me, and it's not in the budget to go porterbuilt. I guess my other big issue is drivability on crappy Michigan roads, I want to enjoy driving it. And like I mentioned the money Ive invested in the Trans, t-case and rear end.

If you guys have what I'm looking for please post pics, I look through the 2wd threads but most don't list the suspension mods.

I'm also guessing the basic drop kits are the same for c10 and blazer. I need to price it all out.

You can easily run a 4/6 static drop.
Same parts as a c10 truck.

Here's my 72'. It has 3" coils with 2" spindles up front and 6"coils with 1" blocks in the rear. I did put in a CPP bolt in notch as well as an adjustable panhard bar and shock mount relocators. It is driven daily in the summer with no issues.

Re: contemplating another 2wd conversion. Let's see what you got.

Very nice! I'm surprised you can get that low without cutting the floor and have a quality ride. I've also just found a nice top for sale locally which makes my decision even harder. I need to avoid procrastinating before I lose out on both.

Don't know if it matters to you but it looks like that 2wd frame is a 72 not a 71.

Do the conversion. That's a good price on a 2wd frame.

Re: contemplating another 2wd conversion. Let's see what you got.

So Ive decided to continue with my 4wd build, as much as I love dropped 67/68 style Blazers I've already invested to much in what I have. I will continue to search for a clean 4wd frame to restore until I'm ready to pull the body off. Sorry to disappoint all the 2wd fans. If anyone knows of a 4wd frame somewhat close feel free to pm me. Thanks for your posts.
