New brake line question
My truck came with no brake lines and it has a front and rear suspension swap from an 80s c10 that being said it has disc brakes in the front and drums in the rear.. Here is my question.. I'm looking at the brake line sets and they sell them with power drums or manual drums.. I'm going to be running power brakes.. Do I buy the set for power drums? Thanks in advance..

Re: New brake line question
With your current configuration you'll want a brake line kit for disc/drum (e.g disc's in front, drums in rear). From what I've read you'll want to incorporate a proportioning valve in this setup.
Power drums is for drum/drum with a power boosted master cylinder. Manual drums is for drum/drum with the stock (or no booster) master cylinder. |

Re: New brake line question
I went down this road kinda too, and what I came up with that should work is.. a disc/drum MC for a '73 C10, a booster for a '73 C10, the power brake adapter bracket from Captain Fab, and a proportioning valve from CPP. It's a non adjustable valve, I think its 70/30... but cant recall.
There are some good brake write-ups in the FAQ section, that's where I did all my research. |

Re: New brake line question
So a brake line kit from the 73 bodystyle will fit the 64 frame?
The pre bends is what I'm wondering about

Re: New brake line question
That, I don't know, probably not. I am bending and running all my own new hard lines.

Re: New brake line question
I doubt there is a pre-bent kit that will do what you want.

Re: New brake line question
You can probably use the frame rail lines and some conversion hoses to get you to the calipers,... but you will have to bend up some lines to get you to your new M/C and prop valve.

Re: New brake line question
Bending lines really isn't that hard. I am pretty new at it, just get a good double flare tool and practice a couple times with it. And take your time. It's not that bad
