Re: WTB hub caps

The 3/4 ton caps he's looking for will mount with clips not nubs. Good luck Layne, there's another board member that's been looking for going on 2 years and I've only seen one other complete set in the 10 years I've been on this site. Gotta be careful, lotta people think they have 3/4 ton 67 or 68 caps when they are actually 1/2 ton, and visa-versa. Search the site, there's some good info on here about these caps. Personally, I'm going to use 16" nub wheels with 69-72 blue bowtie caps. Cheaper for the caps and tires.

Re: WTB hub caps

So he's looking for these type caps in Chevy!
I believe these wheels I posted were correct for camper special trucks...
Maybe I'm off on the year?

Re: WTB hub caps

Thanks guys. I don't want to, but may have to settle for '69 model style, at least for now, it will be closer, while I continue to search.
I have these now.I believe they are from the 90's

Re: WTB hub caps

Guys-Thanks for the input.
Looks like I may have to settle for something else at least for now,
What do you guys recomend to get as close as possible to 'correct' '67-'68 wheels and caps?
Needs to be 8 lug. I'm not changing that. I would just like to be moor correct than the 90's wheels that are on there now.

'68 and up caps are pretty available.
Pre '67? are they any more available? More or less correct?... Or good looking?

I know I've seen the 69-72 caps available. Are the 16" 8 lug wheels more available?

Re: WTB hub caps

Most 67-68 Custom Campers came with the Split rims and dog dish caps... I sold a set of the Stainless steel 3/4T caps to a board member about a year ago... I don't remember who bought them but he may step up and sell them... when you find these caps they are not cheap... they are even more expensive that the same caps for half tons...

The 3/4 ton caps fit these wheels, so you get more options because the outer nub caps are more available(not always cheap though).
$110 each plus shipping for the 16.5x8.25s. I have 5 of these wheels. I just need a zip code for a quote.
I also have a set of 5-17.5s by 6.5 or 7" (I need to measure them) that were factory. The tires are more abundant but the ride may be slightly harder as a lot of tires out there are trailer tires. Also you'll have the same issue finding caps as the 17.5s are clip style rims too.
The 16" wheels are much cheaper and tires are plentiful. I have 16s on my "tired of not having a daily driver" project. I would consider selling that set if you wanted them as well (I have a different idea I might try) I would have to figure out a price on them. Shipping on any of these sets is going to be tough due to size and weight)
Just trying to help you with options.

Good luck, let me know if I can assist in your search.

Mike

Re: WTB hub caps

Thanks Mike.
I have another, off forum local option, possibly for 16" wheels. To avoid shipping.
I'll let you know.
Can I assume the 3/4 ton dog dish caps fit on the 16" wheels?
Looks like the caps are gonna be harder than wheels to find.
Are painted wheels easier to source? Can they be chrome plated?

Yes the caps all fit...
Yes caps are harder to find then wheels
Painted caps are more avaliable then stainless.
Plating anything is expensive and usually doesn't last as long either.
Good luck, I hope you find what you need.

Re: WTB hub caps

Please excuse the dumb questions.
Those are for 3/4 ton? So they fit 16.5" Wheels? 16" Wheels?
I assume clip style?
Thanks, Layne

Yeah, you were right. Pretty rough. My goal is to find a good set of these. I'm glad I'll have the painted ones for now.

Those caps shown are exactly what you need for an 8-lug with clips...C/20-30 '68-back wheel. Rim diameter has no bearing on wheel center. They are all the same when the same bolt pattern.
