Need help finding a aftermarket center crossmember!

Hey guys I'm lowering my 70 swb truck pretty low and I want to go with a aftermarket center crossmember so I can run exhaust thru it and also benefit having a larger hoop in center in case I decide to go to a one piece in future but as of now I have a two piece and All I can find is porter built's crossmember that works with a two piece but it requires modifying drive shaft since the carrier mount is moved forward and western chassis advertises one that works with a one or two but when I called to make sure I was told that it only worked with a one for it didn't have a carrier bearing mount! So where can I find one that works with my two piece? I have searched and searched with no luck, and I don't want to keep my stock one of I don't have too , I really want a aftermarket, thanks for any help!

Chris

One option would be to customize yours. Two pieces of 4" OD pipe to make your pass throughs for the exhaust and do the flip on your trailing arm brackets.

I also check Early Classics and theirs says for short bed, 1 piece driveshaft. Not sure you'll find an aftermarket one for a 2 piece setup or you would need to modify it.

Re: Need help finding a aftermarket center crossmember!

Thanks guys, I really didn't want to modify or cut holes in mine if I didn't have too but may have to do that! I wonder instead of flipping trailing arm mounts if I can just buy the brackets from western chassis and mount them that way I could have different setting options?

Re: Need help finding a aftermarket center crossmember!

The CPP one can do both LWB and SWB, 1 or 2 piece driveshafts.

Check out this link (just for the picture and wording)
http://www.dreamershotrods.com/cppto...yandgmcpu.aspx

I bought the one from POL.

I'm not 100% happy with the fitment. If I was to re-consider the purchase...I would keep shopping around.

Well dang sure enough it says on their website for one or two piece, I could have sworn I read on their ebay listing it was just for a one piece! Thanks for all the help guys I feel stupid now!

Re: Need help finding a aftermarket center crossmember!

The one they had on Ebay may have only been for one piece.

Sorry to hijack with a stupid question, but can you explain "flip trailing arm brackets" please?
