interior door panels on my 52

has anyone on here ever made there own interior door panels? if so what material did you use? the replacements they sell are just cardboard. very cheap

I use the old cardboards to make a patterns with formica and cover it with vinyl upholstery material (spray contact cement), it still has a good thickness to fit in the metal trim that surrounds it - most of those pieces are probably long gone tho - if so fold over the vinyl and glue it in place.

I bought the stock cardboard with metal brackets and wrapped them in material. Turned out fairly nice.
