71 Eagle for sale on CL - not mine...

Not sure if there is any interest for something like this, but saw it on our local CL and thought I would put it out here...

That is a 72 truck look at the doors and the windshield. Not to be nitpicky but some people are sticklers for that sort of thing. Jim

Thanks for jarring my memory with this truck. I had one identical to it about 20 years ago. Some guy at a swap meet asked me if I wanted to buy a NOS set of them decals, I thought he had to be kidding. Sure enough I bought a full set of them with extra silk screened plates for the tailgate. They are still in the box on my closet. Tried selling them a few times but they are so obscure that I couldn't sell them. I might see about getting copies made for my newest Frankentruck that I am putting together. A few things that I did learn about them through the years is they are a 1972 dealer installed option so they could get rid of the old body style trucks to make room for the "new and improved" 1973 models. The decal sets came with adder sections to accommodate the swb/lwb/Blazer bodies. They never came from the factory with the mod bod decals.

That has been for sale off and on for quite awhile...
Not sure why the 69-70 hood is on it.

It was only available in 72, so it is listed wrong.

The last time that was on the Minneapolis area craigs it was on the order of $3000. And it was there for a LONG time. I'm not saying this is the same white Eagle stickered truck but it sure looks like it.

What I've observed with the craigslist is that if something is a good deal it goes fast. That white Eagle sat for a LONG time at $3000 and didn't sell. Either he raised the price or this is a flip.

But with all that said, its worth what somebody will pay for it. I hope he gets that and I hope the new owner is happy.

Re: 71 Eagle for sale on CL - not mine...

I know my pal bought the truck on ebay.
Don't know the exact number but it was somewhere in the 4 k range in my recollection.
Then the costs of shipping and importing the truck into europe came on top of that.
I nearly bought if for myself cause I really liked it, but really really wanted a GMC so I didn't buy the eagle.

I like it though and I think it was a decent buy. Nice truck, not perfect but it wasn't perfect money either. Sure enough a lot better than most bondod up 67-72 trucks I have seen so far.

. . . .

I've always heard these decals were a DEALER installed option.

The graphics were available for all of the "trucks" in 1972.

The picture, below, is hard to read but some of the choices were:

Sandman, Feathers and Flame on a Blazer
Little Eagle on the Vega wagon
Hawk and Eagle on a Pick up
The "1776" Suburban
. . . and don't forget the El Camino FLAME !!!

. . . .

Talking Re: 71 Eagle for sale on CL - not mine...

I would love to own it and would drive it. Set it down a little and nice set of wheels and tires! You wouldn't have to worry about seeing to many of them at local shows either!
Great looking truck!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

This eagle truck is like a train wreck. I don't want to look at it, but i just can't stop. It would be the ugliest thing I have ever owned, but for some reason I feel like I need it?

Since you are a subscribing member you should place a want-to-buy ad on the parts board

With all the wraps on everything today, it should be a piece of cake to do a set that looks like the old ones.
