Edelbrock Intake Bi Metallic Choke instillation ?

Anyone have experience hooking up the stock bi- metallic choke assembly on a Edelbrock intake ? When I went to hook it up to the choke lever on the QJet I found the push rod is way to long and out of position. Do you just cut and bend it to fit ? Thanks for any suggestions

fully rotate the choke plate connector and take a picture showing how much of a gap you have.... Edit, never mind. Looked at mine old one iut in the garage and yours does look a fair bit longer

Just make a new one. Back in the day I used to experiment with different lengths to get just the right amount of choke. I used the correct thickness of brass gas welding rod.

I would not try to make one, it's near impossible to get right (I tried).

Edelbrock makes the right rod for the application. Scroll down and find the one for your part # intake.

The trick is to not make it straight. Put a dog leg in it. That way you can increase or decrease the dog leg to get the length just right.

BTW, start out with whatever Thickness carb base gasket Edelbrock recommends, then you can vary the thickness to adjust the carb. They make 1/4" ones, 1/8" ones and the thin ones so you can get a combo that works for you if you want to do it that way.
