Vehicle speed Output Circuit
Can anyone tell me what this does.
I have it coming out of port 50 on the red terminal. Not sure if I need it for my build. Thanks in advance |

Re: Vehicle speed Output Circuit
It's the speed signal output from the PCM that feeds an electric speedometer. The default pulse rate is 4K pulses per mile, but I believe that can be changed on a Gen III.

Re: Vehicle speed Output Circuit
If your running an OBD-powered gauge setup, you won't need this wire. If you want to hook up an aftermarket speedo that is electric, then you use this wire as the signal. On GenIII's you can modify the VSS resolution through HP Tuners.

Re: Vehicle speed Output Circuit
I used the vss output from the pcm to now run a converted stock speedo and to run a gm cruise module
