Any hardware store? They are not special. They are 3/8 X 16 X 1 1/4 inch bolts. I personally use grade 8 on all chassis components. But Grade 5 is perfectly fine and OEM

What he said.... I replaced my bushings last year and hardware while I was at it. Used grade 8 stuff.

I was going to say hardware store as well. I used grade 5 for my sway bar and it holds up fine.

older post but relevant, do we want to use Stainless Steel bolts so they won't rust? and are those grade 8 bolts that look like they have a gold finish stainless? will they rust?

Re: Sway bar bolts and nuts

Hey Gregski, a couple of weeks ago 77c10 told me about a warehouse right here in my town. I had no idea it was even here. I have been getting some grade 8 and some grade 5 depending on the purpose. Form and function...

You can use stainless if you want, it's quite expensive. I had no issue taking my swaybar off last year after it had been on for 4 years. Bolts were all crusty too, no issues.

Tractor Supply Co is a great source for bolts, if you are going to buy a lot of them they sell by the pound.

Either way, a llittle bit of anti-seize will prevent rusting/corrosion on non-stainless & galling on stainless.

Zinc plating and they can still rust. Don't bother with stainless as the costs will be huge. Just put some antiseize silver on the threads when doing them up and you'll have no issues.
