Which one is factory correct?
Which single exhaust routing is factory correct? Above or below the crossmember? Are they both correct? 2wd vs. 4wd...Thanks for your help guys...

Re: Which one is factory correct?
I am not sure but the one with it going above the cross member makes more sense to me.

Re: Which one is factory correct?
Not sure if you have noticed or not, but you have a picture of a 2wd and a 4x4. The 2wd is correct under the crossmember, and the 4x4 is correct above the crossmember since it hangs down lower.

Re: Which one is factory correct?
My 2wd has sections of what I believe is the original exhast, but mine is a 4-speed for now, so it doesn't have the transmission crossmember back there. But it does pass underneath the trailing arm crossmember, so I would think that it would have gone underneath an automatic crossmember as well.

Re: Which one is factory correct?
Above the x-member for sure. Toss in a t-case skid plate while you are down there

Re: Which one is factory correct?
That's my 72 4x4 in the photo. It's original exhaust routing. The pipes original to the muffler. My father-in-law was the original purchaser of the vehicle when it was new.

Re: Which one is factory correct?
Thanks for chiming in...I just wanted to confirm before we went to the exhaust shop since yours is literally the only original 4WD Blazer exhaust pics I've been able to come up with.

Re: Which one is factory correct?
Brilliant Dwayne...is that the Assembly Manual?...gosh, I'm embarrassed that it did not even occur to me to look there. The manual is such a PITA as you know. Ours is tagged and stickie noted and marked to death just so we've got a fighting chance of finding what we're looking for in under 10 minutes....and since the last time I picked it up was to look at the shroud mounting(and we're far enough along as to generally not need it), it's just been put to the side. Thanks for adding this to the thread. It definitely helps.

Re: Which one is factory correct?
That's awesome. Thanks. I guess I feel better that I didn't miss it in the AM...but it also makes me really want one of those.
