power window problem

I've got a gremlin in my passenger side power window. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can roll it up using the driver's side switch, sometimes only the pass. side switch will do it. When it does roll up, it goes fast and smooth. I haven't been able to roll it up for the last few weeks. The driver's side switch does nothing, but if I hold the pass. side switch down long enough it kills the engine! What do I need to check to fix this? All the wiring in the door appears to be okay.

Greg..I would get a replacement window switch first...that is the cheapest and might fix it. Check your wiring too, make sure none of it is broken down or freyed. Hey I finally got window motors!! but I think my pass side one is not good as a new one.

The driver's side switch is fairly new, can't remember if I've replaced the pass side or not. Would the pass side switch being faulty cause the driver's side to not work?

Monday both windows wouldn't roll up! After messing with it for about 30 minutes I got both to roll up (good thing, we had 15 inches of rain this week!). Now the driver side is fine and the pass side is still screwy!

Replace the drivers side switch. My windows decided not to work and only when it felt like it or when I punched the switch It should fix it.

I gotta completely rebuild my power windows... New motors, and switches as well as rebuild and regreace all the moving components... Not gonna be fun =S I also gotta replace and rebuild the power locks too, as well as their switches. Will be a spicy venture unless I can find some good switches and motors etc at the local junkyard...
