Rear Bumper
I bought a rear sport bumper for my 67 stepper off of Craigslist and things aren't lining up right. The brackets are from Brothers trucking. I have to raise the bumper to get the middle bracket holes to line up. When I raise it up it interferes with the tail lights.
What do you guys think? Does the bumper look like a stepside bumper or could it be a fleet side bumper? |

Re: Rear Bumper
You do realize those are not the stock tail lights nor location right?

Re: Rear Bumper
Anyone else have any ideas? Comparing SS Tim picture to my bumper the outside mounting holes sit out wider maybe 3-4" out.

Re: Rear Bumper
Looks like someone removed a lot of material behind the bumper.

Re: Rear Bumper
I have run Model A lights but I put them on after the bumper to gauge best height. i wanted them low but not crowding the bumper. IIRC, they were right about where the reverse lights mount.
The pictures do make it appear that your bumper outer holes sit wider than those on the picture Tim showed. It looks like your bumper is rolled out at the bottom/tilted forward a bit at the top.

I used square body bumper brackets on my 69 C10 stepside but had to do some trimming on them so the bumper sat at the angle and position I wanted as well as fit the holes in the frame. You may have to do the same.

Re: Rear Bumper
Looks more like it is the picture than the bumper. Your shot with a wide angle lens, up close has curved the tailgate up at the ends and the bumper down at the ends. Plus the bumper being propped up and not level with the truck appears to be exagerating the outer bolt hole location.

Re: Rear Bumper
You do have a step side bumper but I can not figure out what is going on with it. Looking down at the top of your bumper brackets does each one have a hole on top were you would bolt the dust shields?

Re: Rear Bumper
I think your main bracket arms are on upside down. I think you would have to take the rh side and flip it and use it on the lh side, and visa versa. When the main arms are installed correctly there will be holes on the top side for gravel shields, inc. the arms that angle outward.

Re: Rear Bumper
Could be the photo, but looking at picture #1 & #4, looks like the bumper is bent down on the right side starting at the license plate relief. Could be an optical illusion also?

Did you have to drill different holes? Can you post a pic of how the lights are mounted? Thanks |
