Gas Tanks (Revisiting)
As happens alot on here, I know I've seen the thread lately but can't find it.
Someone said that a tank out of a burb would bolt up between the framerails on our trucks in the spare tire position. True? Does the sending unit need any mods to function correctly with our gauge? Will a '73 - 80's burb tank work, or does it have to be from '68-'72? Thanks for typing things a million times. Piper |

Okay, got the first two, but the last question was tricky. No to part #1 or to part #2?

You can even look at the 61-up suburbans/Panels, as those will work as well. I have one from a 65 burb in my truck...

Why won't a 1973 to 80's burb tank work? Is it just too big or are the modifications too big?

Why wont a 73-87 tank work? I am in the process of putting a 90 blazer tank in my SWB 4x4. The tank fits between the frame rails (I may shave about 1/8" from each frame rail for more slop room) and the Blazer crossmembers are even the right length, just need to be narrowed down a bit to fit inside the C channel. Another bonus IMO is the skid plate will bolt right into place with the blazer crossmembers. I believe the tank does not hang down any further than the 67-72 blazer/sub tanks and hold 31 gallons instead of 20. The later model Suburban tank should fit a long bed, I think it is 37 gallons. The intank pump in the 90 tank will work great with the FI I am adding to the truck also. May be a little more fitting and fabbing than the 67-72 variety but they defintly will fit.
